Track of the Day: Indigos Ego – Seek (2025)
While Indigos Ego was only formed about a year ago, the Irish foursome brims with the sophistication of bands who have been on the scene much longer. Amidst the elegance and maturity, however, there remains a naivety and raw innocence that is carefully integrated… or just there without anyone realising it. With only a few singles to their name, Indigos Ego may be considered a minnow in the shark pool that is the music industry, but they’re a darting minnow that you can’t help but watch. Join us as we delve into their most recent release, ‘Seek’.
Following their singles ‘Affection’ and ‘TRUTH/LIES’, ‘Seek’ leans into the realm of alternative rock with tinges of indie-rock clinging to the edges of the sonic bubble. Not necessarily reminiscent of The Cranberries, but with a hazy backing that somehow clips at the iconic alt-rock group, ‘Seek’ finds a line between innocence and profoundness. A harmonic wave of music, the track combines Anne O’Reilly’s bold bass with Mark Johnston and Barry Carmichael’s rolling guitars, Paddy Fitzhenry’s drums pulsate in the back, so it’s like travelling along that dark, glistening sonic river expecting flutters of imps peeking from beneath the tumultuous waters.
Melodically, ‘Seek’ is an immersive dip into the darker side of reality – the obscure vocals weaving through with silvery delicacy. Yet, it is the honest lyricism that adds weight to the track. Indigos Ego explains:
“Our latest single, ‘Seek’, is a deep dive into the tangled web of narcissism – a raw, immersive track that confronts manipulation, illusion, and the distorted mirrors we sometimes mistake for connection. ‘Seek’ blends moody textures with sharp lyrical honesty, capturing the emotional dissonance of navigating relationships that revolve around ego and control. It’s a sonic reflection of the push-pull dynamic that leaves you questioning what’s real.”
In addition to the single, why not enjoy an acoustic version of ‘Seek’? You can view the video below and/or on Indigos Ego’s YouTube channel.
