Saint Nick The Lesser – 21 Minutes (2025)

Self-described as being “raw, hopeful and defiant”, Saint Nick The Lesser brings audiences music that not only resonates but offers solace and, well, hope in the darkest of times. Influenced by the likes of Chuck Regan and Frank Turner, the US-based musician eagerly captures and celebrates life in all its messiness, nastiness and tragedy; however, the good side is also lingering in the pop-punk meets alternative-folk embracing hope, empowerment and friendship.

Following the three-year formation of his debut album, Growing Up, Growing Out – set for release on the 30th of July – Saint Nick The Lesser is currently releasing tracks from the album as independent singles. Joining ‘Train Tracks’, ‘Catfish Bones’, ‘Anne-Marie’, and ‘God Bless’, ’21 Minutes’ is the fifth track ahead of the upcoming album. This is the song we’re about to jump headfirst into, so join us on the journey.

Recorded and produced by Ryan Jarvis at Sivraj Studios in North Hollywood, California, ’21 Minutes’ shifts from the punk-inspired ‘God Bless’ to a softer, gentler, easier on the ear few minutes of indie-folk with hints of pop-punk clinging to the edges of the sonic wrapper. A combination of crashing drums, bold bass and soaring guitar rushes past our heads with rhythmic harmonies; the folk-inspired acoustic guitar shines in the melody, giving it a hearty warmth built by rich vocals.

While Saint Nick The Lesser seemingly leans toward the style of Mumford and Sons, the heart-warming song is a juxtaposition to the weighty, almost desperate theme. Beautifully executed in gritty vocals, ’21 Minutes’ is like Saint Nick The Lesser reading a diary entry about pain, desolation, and dealing with inner turmoil. Oscillating between the darkness of inner conflict and a bounciness to embrace hope, Saint Nick The Lesser explains:

“In essence, this song is about a suicide attempt and the subsequent story of what follows, ultimately culminating with the resolution that things can/will change eventually… I’ve struggled on and off with suicidality many times in my life, but the experiences which this song draws inspiration from were based on a particularly dark time in my life. Though not a complete retelling of what happened, the song encapsulates the depths of despair I found myself in at the time… My hope is that you never experience that. My certainty, though, is that even if you do, it’s not the end… that there is, and always will be, hope.”
