Terra Renae – Best Revenge (2025)

With a heart-warming smile and twinkling eyes with a bit of mischief in the sparkle, singer-songwriter Terra Renae can win your heart at first sight. Yet, as much as there is beauty in the appearance, Renae is beautiful within with a powerful presence of female empowerment and resilience. After literally running into Macy Gray in Los Angeles, the US-based Renae found herself among top-tier musical professionals pursuing a career she once thought out of reach because of a vocal injury. Reflecting her journey from then to now, her songs are raw, passionate, and brutally honest, resonating with listeners across the globe.

Before heading off on a national tour with Macy Gray, Terra Renae follows up her singles ‘Manifest It’ and ‘Ignite Me’ with ‘Best Revenge’. Produced by Epic Mazur, Praveen V Arla and Mikal Blue, ‘Best Revenge’ is a powerful pop tune blending bold beats with shimmering synths in a bubblegum pink sonic wrapper. Interestingly, as much as the song leans toward contemporary pop in its sound, flicks of old-school RnB flutter in the background with the teeniest toe-tapping flair of vintage funk.

As with her material, ‘Best Revenge’ brims with empowerment from sounds to words. Melodically, the bounciness of the track lifts your heart and makes everything slightly lighter as you dance about in the middle of the room, not caring what anyone thinks. Lyrically, ‘Best Revenge’ is a song of heartache and broken hearts, but Renae snubs her nose at misery and celebrates blossoming after a lost romance. Renae explains:

“’Best Revenge’ celebrates choosing joy over bitterness and thriving after heartbreak. I chose to write my story in smiles, not scars.”

Sincere, sentimental, and reflective, ‘Best Revenge’ is, for me, one of Renae’s best singles to date. I cannot wait for more self-affirming anthems from this talented musician.
