Chloey Indica – Lonely In A Crowded Room (2025)
Embracing a passion for music at a young age, Chloey Indica has been singing and writing songs for as long as she can remember. Shaping her style and stoking the fire of passion, Indica’s musical roots are influenced by her grandfather and her mother’s band, offering generational insight and diverse sounds. After leaving college early, the Seattle native relocated to Nashville, where she immersed herself in a network of musicians who “changed my life” and began pursuing a musical career. Skip ahead to 2025, and Indica has turned heads internationally with singles like ‘Talking Over Tea’, ‘Wish You Bad’ and ‘If I Ever’ – each showcasing her innovation and originality. The latest addition to her discography is the single, ‘Lonely In A Crowded Room’.
Following the singles ‘Identity Crisis’ and ‘Honey Gold’, ‘Lonely In A Crowded Room’ retains the 90s-inspired pop-rock flavour, but leans further toward the heavier rock side of the genre. Produced by Evan McKeever, the new single is a kaleidoscopic swirl of crashing drums, dynamic guitars and a bold bass, all linked in a rock symphony. Then again, despite it being a single rush of moving music, each instrument holds its own in the melody; in other words, you can easily hear the instruments as they weave together with separate shining sonic threads.
A thundering track showcasing raw emotion, I can hear the influences of Paramore and Avril Lavigne. Soothing and languid, the rock-filled melody teems with sincerity and an odd tranquillity; however, within this easy-on-the-ears song, a glaring sense of vulnerability and poignant melancholy exist. Hard-hitting and powerful, ‘Lonely In A Crowded Room’ explores feelings of isolation, identity, and that moment when you identify the superficiality of relationships, doing things just because you’re supposed to.
Heart-breaking but also quite the wake-up call, ‘Lonely In A Crowded Room’ is not entirely about feeling lost in a sea of inauthenticity; it promotes self-acceptance and genuineness. Indica champions the idea that “you don’t have to change to be loved”, and her music is a testament to empowerment and self-love.
