Haus of Sound – Madness (2025)

With a daub of high-voltage energy, a slab of infectious enthusiasm, and a sound to send you in a kaleidoscopic swirl across several decades, the US-based House of Sound takes you on a sonic journey where craziness (but good craziness) is the name of the game. We entered their house of fun a couple of months ago with the rock-infused single, ‘Mirage’ – a track of rebelliousness and mystery; today, we meet them again with the new single, ‘Madness’.

Following the well-received singles, ‘Anxiety’, ‘Pain in my Eyes’, and ‘Mirage’, the quintet from Seattle shifts to a retro rush of synth-rock with fringes of dance-rock and pop. Self-recorded and produced, ‘Madness’ is somewhat smoother and calmer as compared to previous tracks – a result of the synth-tinged pop vibes – yet there is an enigmatic chaos slicing through the track. A concoction of crashing drums, bold bass, soaring guitars, and an interlaced synth-driven element, ‘Madness’. For me, the prominent keyboard offers a haziness to a darker sonic fog, like walking through a dark sonic forest with imps dancing with mischief delight.

One element I find intriguing about Haus of Sound is their ability to immerse you in a tune; to give off a vibe that grabs you with its entrails, drawing you into the mire. With ‘Madness’, you find darkness and tragedy with Gabrielle’s rich vocals simultaneously anchoring you while sending you into a spiral of sound. From a melodic standpoint, ‘Madness’ is a knock-out achievement; however, the lyricism enhances its weightiness and depth. The band explain:

“Our new single, ‘Madness’, is what happens when Depeche Mode’s dark vibe meets the funk of Daft Punk and the slick catchiness of Maroon 5… Lyrically, it dives into the all-too-relatable cycle of going back to something toxic, even when the world feels like it’s falling apart…”

In addition to the single, Haus of Sound released an official music video for ‘Madness’. You can view the video below and/or on their YouTube channel.
