Anna Lynch – Wake Up (2025)

The hotbed of artistry that is Manchester is ready to unleash another one of its own, as Anna Lynch with her new single ‘Wake Up’, which took a year to see the light of day after it was written with producer Rhys Jiang. The simplistically beautiful tune carries the track perfectly, allowing the sheer talent of Lynch to shine through. With a voice which is timeless, yet has its own unique boon, the kind you can get lost in for hours.

‘Wake Up’ is one of those songs that you can feel the warmth of the season it was written in; Lynch herself confirmed this with a candid explanation of where the song came from, “We started writing on a beautiful summer’s day in his shipping container in Pollard Yard, the chorus came to me, and the words just flowed. I think as women, we can be so hard on ourselves, but this song is here to hold you in those moments and remind you that you are more than enough. It’s about waking up to yourself, knowing that you can bloom and wither and still be beautiful and completely enough”. I loved this as a father of two daughters. I think self-belief is one of the most important things to instil in everyone, and am so happy that this is being pushed through music.

For all fans of the classic female vocalists, including Laura Marling and the late great Amy Winehouse, Anna Lynch is truly the person to carry on soulful pop forward for the next generation.

Even with ‘Wake Up’ being her only offering to date, she has already racked up over three thousand monthly listeners, and with her first headline gig coming in the next few weeks at Manchester’s legendary Band On The Wall, I for one can’t wait to hear more from this Mancunian songstress. With a new EP on the horizon and a promise of a raft of new singles to follow, hopefully, it won’t be long before new music drops. Until then, I’m sure ‘Wake Up’ will hold its place in my playlist for the coming months.
