Eddie Cohn – Get Back My Way (2025)

Discovering a passion for music even before he hit kindergarten, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Eddie Cohn burned a musical flame in his soul from the age of 3. From playing the piano to learning the drums, while also dealing with health problems, young Cohn tended his fiery, natural talent, exuding creativity. Skip ahead a few years beyond his college introduction to the Seattle music scene and delving into songwriting, and we have US-based Eddie Cohn exploring various roots of creativity from writing novels to DJing, podcasting, and even teaching yoga – alongside being a musician, of course. The latest addition to his discography is the single ‘Get Back My Way’.

Joined by a variety of “UBER talented musicians…”, ‘Get Back My Way’ draws together the talents of Cohn (vocals, acoustic guitar, keyboards, piano and percussion), Brett Farkas (electric guitar), Dan Lutz (bass guitar), Phil Peterson (cello), and Jake Reed (drums and percussion). Following the well-received single ‘Wheels Stop’, the single taps into a softer, smoother, and more soothing sound. Harmonically weaving together the various instruments, each adding an individual shimmer to the symphonic melody, the track has a mellifluous feeling about it. Yet, as much as there is a languidness to the almost single, a crescendo to something heavier, harder and grittier brings some oomph; almost like two separate songs tied together, opening with restfulness and ending with restlessness.

Melodically, ‘Get Back My Way’ is a moving and intimate single, shifting from calm to… well, not crazy but definitely more of a shove. Lyrically, Cohn adds greater depth to the track. He explains:

“… We pursue so many goals, we work long hours, we put our bodies through so much stress, and while I have big goals and dreams, I also constantly remind myself of the value of the little things. Each day, I remind myself to be grateful, to work out, to be outdoors and to stay creative. This song is really about embracing all the things that make us feel like we’re at our best…”

In addition to the single, Eddie Cohn released an official music video for ‘Get Back My Way’. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel.
