MICAH – Seat Filler (2026)
Unafraid to share emotional and intimate experiences with audiences via moving music, singer-songwriter MICAH connects with audiences on a deeper, more profound, and cathartic level. Described as reminiscent of acts like Lady Gaga, Olivia Dean, Loreen, and Tate McRae, there is a darkness in her alternative pop sound; however, MICAH saunters through various pop styles, so she can’t necessarily be pinned to a particular degree of alternativeness. The latest addition to her discography is the single, ‘Seat Filler’.
Following her well-received single, ‘Savage Daughter’, ‘Seat Filler’ leans further toward a speedier, punchier rush of pop, rushing past you at a million miles per hour. Grabbing you by the navel and dragging you through a kaleidoscopic sonic tunnel, you barely have time to adjust your eyes on this exceptional rollercoaster ride. Yet, while ‘Seat Filler’ is a bit of a mad sprint with pounding drums and a crashing guitar slicing across the track, there is soothing warmth in the chaotic fling.
Almost an anchor in the spine of sparkling sound, MICAH’s rich vocals are a smiling guide keeping you safe and comfortable. A song about 21st-century relationships, one could imagine tempest-in-a-teacup fury; however, MICAH offers a more empowering, accepting attitude in ‘Seat Filler’. She explains:
“’Seat Filler’ is about choosing not to play the game anymore. It’s the acceptance that you can wish someone happiness while still seeing the truth clearly. It’s a song about seeing the game clearly, choosing not to play it, and wishing someone happiness without denying the truth.”
Produced by Sam Stevenson, ‘Seat Filler’ is the third release from MICAH’s upcoming debut album, Lessons Learned, due in Spring 2026. With the promise of this record and the singles already sitting in her catalogue, I find myself eager to hear more and willing to sit back and enjoy the singles available.
