A Chat with Dace Silina (28.01.26)
Emerging pop sensation Dace Silina is stepping into the spotlight once again with the release of her first English single, ‘Love Sound’, a deeply personal track she wrote herself. The song marks a defining moment in her artistic journey, showcasing her distinctive voice and emotional storytelling. With ‘Love Sound’, Silina introduces the world to a sound that’s authentic, heartfelt, and unmistakably her own.
OSR: What inspired you to write ‘Love Sound’?
Silina: I had a particularly special emotional moment in my life in January 2025, which made me write the song – and my feelings at the time inspired me to write the lyrics for ‘Love Sound’
OSR: How does it feel to release your first English-language single?
Silina: I never thought I could do it to release my first song in English in the U.K. I felt so excited. I had a feeling of insecurity about English. I thought my English wasn’t good enough to write songs. I wrote the lyrics in a relatively short time. And I had the feeling wow – I can do it.
OSR: Can you walk us through the creative process behind the track?
Silina: I wrote the song on paper with a pen, like in the old days. And when the lyrics was ready, I started humming the melody.
OSR: How did your collaboration with producer Gints Stankevics shape the final sound?
Silina: When I had the lyrics and melody of the song thoroughly polished. I sang it on the phone and sent it to Gint. Next, it was his job to come up with a plan. When the sound truck was ready, I came to Gint’s studio and sang it. ‘Love Sound’ is today’s result!
OSR: Which artists have influenced your musical style, and how?
Silina: I have many favourite artists. But for this song, I was influenced by Tate McRae.
OSR: What challenges did you face while creating your debut single?
Silina: The producer had the idea to take a sample of a famous song. It took a long time. But we decided to release the original song without any changes.
OSR: How do you balance personal storytelling with commercial pop appeal?
Silina: With ‘Love Sound’, I leaned into real emotion but kept the focus on feeling rather than details. The song comes from a personal place, but the goal was to make it relatable, something anyone could step into. Pop appeal is about how that emotion is delivered. A strong hook and a clean melody help the story reach people, but it still has to sound like me. That balance is where ‘Love Sound’ lives.
OSR: What does music mean to you personally, and how has it shaped your life?
Silina: I’ve been singing and writing songs since childhood. But at some point, I left music. Over time, I slowly started singing when I was sad or happy, for myself. I started singing more and more often until I realised that I couldn’t live without songs. It’s my meditation and a feeling of joy for myself. And if I can influence and make people happier with songs, it’s a feeling that I’m doing a special job.
OSR: How do you see your sound evolving in future releases?
Silina: I like variety. All the songs will be different in their own way. Future releases will be definitely interesting.
OSR: What message or feeling do you hope listeners take away from ‘Love Sound’?
Silina: The song is about love. We all feel happy when we are loved. With the touch of love, beautiful things happen!
