Ali Heath – Alarm Goes Off, You Get Up, You Get By (2021)

Performing as one-fourth of psychedelic group Alfa9, Ali Heath already has three records to his name. The thing is, while Alfa9 had success, Heath began showing interest in a solo project; this is that project. Hailing from the UK, the singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer merges elements of 70s rock with jangle-pop and alternative rock bringing old-school sounds to modern-day audiences. The debut release from this natural talent is ‘Alarm Goes Off, You Get Up, You Get By’.

Featured on Less Than 1000 Followers, Roadie Music and Indie Dock Music Blog, Heath is gaining a fair bit of coverage amidst more established independent and unsigned artists; however, his sound is far from new or amateur. With polished sophistication, Heath combines powerful guitars with stripped-back drums and whimsical vocals building a kaleidoscopic soundscape. The intriguing melodic arrangement builds on catchy riffs to flow into infectious choruses that, despite the hushed vocals, are hard-hitting in a smooth way.

Taken from his upcoming album When The Day Is Done, the veteran artist showcases his eclectic and innovative attitude in ‘Alarm Goes Off, You Get Up, You Get By’. Penned during the Covid pandemic, the lyrics and even the title of the song aligns with existential uncertainty. Think about it, our alarm goes off in the morning and we get up only to get by during the day. Nothing outstanding may happen during the day but the relatability of the song explores issues of isolation, frustration and anger in an introspective way. It is this sentiment that captivates listeners and makes you feel understood.

In addition to the single, Ali Heath released an official music video for ‘Alarm Goes Off, You Get Up, You Get By’. You can view the video on his YouTube channel or below:
