Bailey Perrie – For The Plot (2025)

Quickly establishing herself as one of the brightest new voices in independent music, singer-songwriter Bailey Perrie is not just causing a stir in her native Australia but turning heads on an international scale. From her confident performances at iconic venues in the USA to filming music videos in Los Angeles, featuring on global publications and radio stations, and earning several awards, including Australia’s ‘Youth Singer of the Year 2024’ and ISSA Awards’ ‘International Rising Star’, Perrie is carving her name into the indie scene. Today, we join her global audience by listening to her new single, ‘For The Plot’.

Following the critically acclaimed singles ‘No Main Character’ and ‘The Lotto’, ‘For The Plot’ shifts from a strong pop-rock stance to something deeper, heavier and brimming with vulnerable intensity. Produced with Simon Giles, the is a soothing concoction of shimmering synths, bold beats, hushed guitars, and powerful flecks of an acoustic piano. Sophisticated and elegant in its ambient soundscape, the kaleidoscopic sweep of gentle music is bound by mature production. Yet, within the sleek mellifluousness of ‘For The Plot’, a slice of eerie darkness lingers with tragic desperation.

The layered instrumentation entwines with a beautifully textured tone; however, while also sophisticated, Perrie’s vocals carry a sense of fragility and recklessness. Similar to sirens, her voice brims with skin-chilling haunting but retains a thrilling allure, simultaneously telling you to edge closer and giving you the creeps to stand away from the path. This is so beautifully entwined with the vulnerability and inspirational empowerment Perrie poetically waves in her lyricism. She explains:

“This song is about those impulsive, heart-first decisions we make – not because they’re safe, but because they’re real. It’s about trusting the journey, even if it’s a little reckless.”

Showcasing another side of her multi-faceted personality and musicality, Perrie proves she is more than a pop-rock artist – she has profound soulfulness that takes you deeper into alternative rock territory. ‘For The Plot’ is a glimpse into her upcoming album, and I am eager to hear more from this talented artist.
