Blackfoot Daisy – Stretch My Plum (2026)

If you’re thinking, “hey, I know the name Blackfoot Daisy from somewhere, but I can’t quite remember…”, it’s possible the recognition is from a couple of our previous reviews – I mean, we can dream that everyone reading this is an ardent fan of our work. When it comes to Blackfoot Daisy, the band is linked to singer-songwriter Wendy DuMond as the other side of her personality stepping forward, along with a couple of equally important musicians. Joined by Don Schelski (guitar and vocals) and Eric Toomson (violin), multi-instrumentalist DuMond offer us a sound that is rooted in folk/Americana music, but unashamed to push those boundaries. Welcome to Blackfoot Daisy!

Returning to the streaming world, ‘Stretch My Plum’ is not only Blackfoot Daisy’s first stomp into 2026, but also the first release since 2023’s ‘Nowhere, Oklahoma’. Produced by Don Schelski, ‘Stretch My Plum’ retains the country twang we hear in previous material, but with a bit of a lighter, swing-tinted, fun, amusing design to it.

How do I describe ‘Stretch My Plum’? Well, it has a soft, tranquil, toe-tapping sensation with a weave of ukulele, guitar, washboard, and a happy fiddle keeping the beat. Yet, despite the intricate entwining of the arrangement, there is a simplicity in its delivery that is heartfelt, sweet, and just plain charming. When it comes to the vocal harmonies, you can imagine the band sitting on their porch on a sweltering hot Georgia day singing the day away without a care – and by golly, you’ll flick your cares away as you bop along to the track.

“’Stretch My Plum’ borrows freely from the colourful language of professional wrestling, transforming classic holds and moves into clever double entendres. The result is a song that’s humorous and flirtatious… delivered with a wink and a whole lot of front-porch swagger.”- Blackfoot Daisy on ‘Stretch My Plum’
