BLØØM – Sailor Man (2026)
You’ve heard of things being eye-catching, but Irish quintet BLØØM capture people’s attention by being ear-catching. Hard-hitting, energetic, high-spirited, and brimming with that cheeky Irish attitude, the alternative rock group brings heart, soul, and electricity to everything they play. Formed last year – that’s 2025, to be specific – BLØØM is a relatively new band on the scene; however, their thrilling melodies and honest lyricism align with more well-versed musicians who have more than a few months in their pocket. Come along as we embark on the BLØØM journey with their debut single, ‘Sailor Man’.
Released with B-side track, ‘Amber Eyes’, ‘Sailor Man’ is a rollercoaster single smacking of old-school Oasis and The Stone Roses. From the outset, BLØØM hits you between the eyes and doesn’t let up for a second. Immediately picked up by Ryan Hays’ bass and Oscar Geraghty’s drums, the song lifts you with a bold flourish, simultaneously taking you to dance and thwacking you in the gut. Archie Kenyon’s lead guitar flies along, keeping in line with the heavier background, but still standing tall with classic rock riffs and solo crescendos. Sean Walsh’s guitar slips along, but it is Walsh’s vocals that make a true impression.
Walsh holds the melody and you, as the listener, in the palm of his hand with his rich voice. Tender, dulcet, and gentle, but with a rugged flair, he finds the sweet spot between light-hearted friendship and wandering wistfulness. The breath of warmth is enhanced by Pixie’s backing vocals.
Produced by Walsh, ‘Sailor Man’ is a song that “—feels equally at home in a packed pub, a road-trip playlist, or a late-night session with friends – full of heart, momentum, and unmistakable Irish attitude…” As with the majority of people, this is our introduction to BLØØM, and it’s a great lift on a dreary Tuesday afternoon. Ear-catching, no doubt, but I am curious as to what comes next. Are ‘Sailor Man’ and ‘Amber Eyes’ BLØØM’s peak, or is there far more up their sleeves? Here’s waiting with bated breath.
