Chase Nova Band – Madness Costs Nothing (2025)

Smashing together various musical styles and genres, but in a complementary and not collision way, Irish group Chase Nova Band offer a unique, exciting musical experience with each melody. Joined by Josh Meakin, Ken Tuohy, Georgia Lynch, and James Peppard, lead songwriter Chase Nova indulges our desire for eclectic innovation and obscurity, while still keeping the lid on a harmonic tone that won’t ring your eardrums.

A year after they released ‘Beg For It Back’, Chase Nova Band released the what might be considered provocative single, ‘Madness Costs Nothing’. A song delving into the gritty, grungy realm of political power, authoritarian perspectives, a dystopian society, and the dudes that keep the rat race running, ‘Madness Costs Nothing’ is… well, the soundtrack for our illogical world. Chase Nova explains:

“…We live in a world where we’re now being forced to accept the existence of a trillionaire, while we send taxpayer-funded police to evict someone for owing their landlord a few hundred euro… They’re not titans of industry and innovation, they are ravenous collectors of power and wealth who see the human race as a resource to indulge their addiction. Anyone expressing that unending gluttony for anything else would be labelled an addict or hoarder in desperate need of psychiatric intervention…”

Recorded and produced by Chase Nova Band, with mastering by Fergal Davis, ‘Madness Costs Nothing’ is a song that leaves you gasping for breath while swirling about you in a dark, suffocating sonic whirlpool. Brimming with strong classic rock influences, but a tint of Eastern styles adds an off-kilter flair to the track; sort of crossing the West and East with a common denominator of powerful music bound by universal truths and timeless themes. Yet, while you feel yourself being tossed in the whirlpool, the pulsating beats, bold percussion, cheeky piano, and soaring guitar (courtesy of Dylan Murphy) make you pay attention in a grand, harmonic, anthemic vibe.
