EJ Carey – Eviscerate (2025)

A true child of the Warped Tour era, brimming with the power of Paramore, the bluntness of Sum 41, and the force of Avril Lavigne, EJ Carey draws nostalgic memories of upbeat, angsty yesteryear in her pop-rock/pop-punk tunes. Not merely a singer and songwriter, but a true storyteller, the US-based musician celebrates reality in all its triumph and tragedy with intimate melodies. We came across Carey last year with her astounding pop-punk single, ‘Crime of Passion’, but now she’s upped the ante with the hard-hitting, breath-taking single, ‘Eviscerate’. Join us as we jump headfirst into this new release.

With fiery red hair and a mischievous smile, EJ Carey kicks out with a fearsome force of head-twirling pop-punk enthusiasm in ‘Eviscerate’. Stepping, or rather stomping, into 2025, ‘Eviscerate’ is a song that wriggles into your ear, rocks about your brain and shivers down your spine; however, simultaneously, it floods with soothing sincerity lingering in Carey’s rich vocals. Produced by Bryan Fennelly, ‘Eviscerate’ offers that off-kilter, pulsating, fist-pumping power so beautifully executed with memories of 2000s pop-punk. Yet, within the elegance of its crisp arrangement, a sense of vulnerability breaks… then again, the fragility is one of empowerment and defiant resilience.

Laying bare timeless themes of loss, love, yearning, desire, and a tragedy of circumstances, the intricate tremor of despair resounds; however, the rush of strength and kick-ass attitude pumps raw emotion of “so, it’s not necessarily fair, but I honestly don’t care because I’m going to be better than that…” Carey shares:

“’Eviscerate’ is the antithesis of succumbing to a life of monotony. Too often, the story of a woman disappointed by a partner goes in one ear and out the other, but that’s not an option with this loud and proud proclamation… to leave behind those who can’t keep up with personal growth…”
