EverWill – Jazmyne Layne (2025)

The brainchild of Nebraska-born singer-songwriter William Griffey, EverWill is a rock project showcasing the heavier side of alternative rock with the more intimate tone of indie-rock, not to mention the ferocity of pop-punk and the intensity of soul. This is our introduction to EverWill, but he is already making a name for himself and reaching international audiences with his intriguing music. The latest addition to his discography is the single, ‘Jazmyne Layne’.

Influenced by the likes of Mayday Parade, Shinedown and A Day To Remember, ‘Jazmyne Layne’ is a burst of 90s/2000s alternative rock tinged with the heaviness of hard rock. A combination of crashing drums, a bold bass and soaring, almost scorching guitars weaving along the kaleidoscopic melody. Interestingly, while the melody has the allure of the glistening surface of a sonic river, there is a vulnerability and rawness that makes it a little more intimate, intense, and plucks at your heartstrings.

Eager to turn life’s tragedies, triumphs, and passionate tales into inspiring music, Griffey is a storyteller along the lines of Charles Dickens. I’m not saying his songs lie in the world of Oliver Twist, David Copperfield or Amy Dorrit; rather, as with Dickens, the core of humanity, its essence and unpicking reality weave in EverWill’s melodies. ‘Jazmyne Layne’ turns our heads to the tale of true love – the passionate and enduring romance shaped by sacrifice and devotion, proving that some bonds are too strong to ever be severed.

Co-produced by William Griffey and Scott Robinson, mastered by Doug Van Sloan and mixed by Robinson, ‘Jazmyne Layne’ is not merely a song to touch our hearts; it is a love letter from Griffey to his partner. He explains:

“This song is a true story about how Jazmyne and I found love and stayed together… It’s my anthem to her.”

Unpicking the best of love and its complexities, this track already connects with audiences, showcasing the passion burning within EverWill’s heart. Yet, it also highlights the versatility and diversity of Griffey’s artistic personality, embracing something heavier, harder, but far more intimate than previous material. This is my introduction to EverWill, and I can honestly say he’s already stepping up to the top of my favourite finds. I highly recommend him!
