Jeff Vidov – Take A Ride (2025)
Award-winning Canadian composer and pianist Jeff Vidov ended the year 2025 on a high with his latest single, ‘Take a Ride’. Vidov is a seasoned artist who started out composing music for TV and film in the early 2000s, but in recent years focused on his own songs, producing more tracks with more of a rock/pop DNA. Using his musical talent along with lyrical acumen to push forward an interwoven narrative in each offering, and ‘Take a Ride’ is no different.
When listening to ‘Take a Ride’ for the first time, Vidov’s cinematic background was almost instantly noticeable; there was just a gravitas to the track which is hard to explain. It was as if from the outset, Vidov was trying to grip the listener as all great cinema does in the opening scene.
The aggressive drum beat is a perfect way to fire the track straight into your ears, and I loved how the introduction of a synth offered a more electro feel, pushing the nostalgia factor through the roof. Then, when Vidov’s vocals come in, they just increase the nostalgia factor further with a sound that would not be out of place on a motivational montage in any 80s or 90s classic action film. The chorus is a great example of pop music writing that can stick in your head and have you singing along almost instantly. As if this track isn’t already jam-packed, Vidov manages to add a perfectly placed bridge to showcase a tremendous guitar solo.
Staying true to the theme of ‘Take a Ride’, the line “the way that you energise my love” is quite fitting, as this is a track that definitely leaves you pumped up from the opening bars to the final beat.
If you’re like me and love to explore any new discovery to its fullest, then I implore you to hit Jeff Vidov’s back catalogue. There is a lot to immerse yourself in and plenty to enjoy. Until we get more, I know I’ll be listening to a lot more because I’m a firm believer that the world needs more solid pop/rock music, and that is definitely what Vidov is offering.
