Lana Crow – In Spirit (2026)
Known for her ethereal sound with a sophisticated, polished approach to pop music, singer-songwriter Lana Crow creates music that is intimate and personal, but speaks to an international audience. Drawing on her early musical training, life detours, and return to her music journey, Crow “writes with the honesty of a diary and the energy of a dance floor…” We came across her music with 2025’s ‘Orwellian Times’, and review-wise we left her with 2026’s ‘What Brings You Back’. Today, we step back into her world with one of her more recent singles, ‘In Spirit’.
Recorded and produced by Tristan Boston, ‘In Spirit’ is not what Crow initially had in mind. She shared that she was originally after “…a chill, low-key beach vibe”, something softer, quieter and more whispery; with the skills of Boston, the track found a new face with a vibrant, vivacious melding of lo-fi waves and electronic pop underlying the hazy tone. At its core, the melody shifts from a soothing, soft, slow tune to a rich, full-bodied, bright crash of uplifting pop. Yet, and this is the really intriguing part, that hazy tone takes shape in a perfumed veil of sound. It’s as if the melody beneath is pushing against a white lid of fog.
For me, the track is a little disconcerting with its pop energy fighting the hazy topping. A case of excited people jumping in the background, with that fog obscuring the view. It feels uncomfortable and unsure, like we’re waiting for something to happen, and you’re constantly nudging the divide without knowing what you’re trying to reach. On the other hand, the glee and joyful indulgence heard from the other side of the cloud makes you keen to keep listening, to discover what the spirit is from ‘In Spirit’.
In addition to the single, Lana Crow released an official lyric video for ‘In Spirit’. You can view the video below and/or on her YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
