LAWRN – Too Much Love (2020)

If you are a fan of The 1975 or LANY, then the chances are you will absolutely adore the alt-pop trio LAWRN (pronounced Lauren). Founded in 2018 by lead vocalist Andy, guitarist Ollie and drummer Harm, the group adopts a synth-laden sound filled with innocence, passion and heartbreaking charm. Gaining a reputation for soothing melodies and engaging lyricism, LAWRN has received critical acclaim from the likes of FV Music Blog, Unheard Gems and Chalkpit Records (to name a few). The latest addition to their well-received discography is the single ‘Too Much Love’.

Combining the pop sensationalism of A-ha with the grace of Spandau Ballet and intensity of Eurythmics, LAWRN’s ‘Too Much Love’ is a hazy storm of sound. Yet, while you might be lost in the ambient waves Andy’s vocals act as an anchor. With his warm but haunting voice, Andy enhances the poignancy of the lyricism. By weaving the soothing melody with serious lyricism, the lads showcase their versatility in styles and depth of content.

“This is a deeply personal song to us. It started with a picture I took years ago of some roses floating in the sea as if they had been thrown away and the picture became so relevant in the last few years.” – Andy (vocalist) on ‘Too Much Love’

It’s quite difficult to describe LAWRN in a single post, but I will say their elegance is highly evident in ‘Too Much Love’. Gracefully executed, the single is poetic with graceful sophistication – a real gem for any music lover.
