Night Wolf + Lois Powell – Death of the Wolf (2026)

Earlier this year, singer-songwriter Lois Powell entwined her delicate, fragile, silvery vocals with producer Night Wolf’s cinematic melody; the result, ‘Lost My Way Home’. A delightful introduction to the pair’s collaborative project washing you with a kaleidoscopic wave of music. Today, we take a gander at the second collaboration between Powell and Night Wolf. ‘Death of the Wolf’.

A pair unafraid to tackle the darker, grittier, more emotionally painful parts of reality, ‘Death of the Wolf’ is a self-reflective piece. Penned by Night Wolf, or half-written, with Powell’s lyricism as the second half of the song, ‘Death of the Wolf’ is a diary entry – raw, intimate and cathartic. Night Wolf explains:

“I wrote this song and finished it during a very difficult time in my life, as my mother passed away. It drove me to complete the half-finished song and allowed me to pour my sadness into it… However, the lyrics are not reflecting this period and are not about the passing; the lyrics I wrote until Lois took over were very much a self-reflection of how I felt or still feel.”

Not merely a song to hear, but one to experience, ‘Death of the Wolf’ is a sonic world to be felt. As if setting off on a glistening sonic river, Night Wolf’s orchestra sends ripples along the water, laps across, flows ahead and takes you on an intriguing, break-taking journey.

His distinctive orchestral style has violins whispering past, percussion shimmering beneath the delicate wave, and a solo piano driving you through water, parting the glassy surface. Yet, as smooth and tranquil as it may feel, the turbulent swirls of tumultuous water crash against the rocks with the possibility of washing you off your sonic boat to the tempestuous whirlpools. An already enigmatic tune sending shivers down your spine, Powell’s delicate vocals up the ante with a haunting oscillation between calm and vulnerability.

Sentimental and sincere, with raw honesty oozing from the emotional track, ‘Death of the Wolf’ is highly recommended for everyone! Will there be a third collaboration up their sleeves? I surely hope so.
