Reverliee – Connect (2025)
With a seductive smile, glittering dark eyes, and sassiness that makes you pay attention, singer-songwriter Reverliee can win your heart without even trying – but she’s not just a pretty face. Along with her intriguing appearance, her musical talents are as ensnaring with confidence, boldness and insatiable enchantment. Interestingly, just as her music is confident and anthemic, a hushed vulnerability and haunting carry listeners between dreaming and reality. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘Connect’.
The fourth single to her name, following the tracks ‘Numb’, ‘Control’ and ‘Valentine’, ‘Connect’ drags audiences back to the late 90s/ early 2000s alternative rock world. Produced with George Vasilas, ‘Connect’ is a kaleidoscopic blend of crashing drums, a pulsating bass, scorching guitars and an interspersed keyboard adding a dreamy synthy design. Polished and sophisticated, Reverliee and Vasilas take us on a rollercoaster of sound from the rising crescendos teetering to the top of the ride, to the slams and side-winding turns meshed into one wild ride.
Melodically, the track is intriguing with a chaotic blast of music hitting you from all sides. Yet, it is the sonic capturing of the single’s theme with its immersive music that keeps me enthralled. Reverliee explains:
“…a pop-rock confession that burns with desire, confusion, and the kind of emotional chaos that only comes with wanting too much. The feeling of being consumed by someone and the need to feel seen…”
Madness caught inside a pretty kaleidoscopic bubble of sound, ‘Connect’ is dizzying with weighty complexity and delicate vulnerability. The defining feature, however, is not the instrumentation or its use to encapsulate the emotional rush of desire; it is Reverliee’s obscure vocals. With stark contrast to the urgent music, her silvery voice slices through with glaring shine and a heart-warming hopefulness. It’s odd considering the sharpness of her rich voice cutting into the melody, but for some reason, there’s an anchor within the sharpness as she holds you close and dances along in ‘Connect’.
