Rosie Haze – Fresh Flowers (2026)
With a strong passion for music burning in her breast since her childhood days, a moving story and touching melody have never been far from Rosie Haze’s lips and heart. At one of her gigs, an individual shared his appreciation for Haze’s music by saying, “…it’s refreshing to hear music that has such deep and heartfelt lyrics… Music like what you shared today is rare these days…” – an expression of her old soul in bright, innocent, new ways. Join us as we dip into Haze’s most recent release, ‘Fresh Flowers’.
Co-recorded and produced at her home studio, with mastering by Kris Crummett, ‘Fresh Flowers’ is infused with “…dark, atmospheric tones and intricate harmonies reminiscent of Phoebe Bridgers and Radiohead.” Joined by Noah Powell (guitar), Phoenix Mir (bass) and Sam Beilenson (drums), the single brushes at 90s indie-rock and grunge with those “…dark, atmospheric tones…”; however, strangely, a glimmer of light weaves along the melody, inserting emotional resonance as Haze holds her hand out with a wistful smile. Particularly intriguing as the single is about opening a new chapter, finding a new space, and walking into an empowering world after a toxic relationship.
For me, ‘Fresh Flowers’ is empowering yet has a haunting soundscape that simultaneously chills and calms. Reminiscent of The Cranberries, Haze’s off-kilter vocals hold the kick of Dolores O’Riordan with wistful whispers and profound sentiments. The blend of anchoring drums, gentle bass, swift guitar and shimmering keyboards is also reminiscent of The Cranberries – all together in a subdued one-ness that is simplistic with a slice of intricacy.
Soft and chilled-out, Haze’s maturity and sophistication exude in the melody and lyrics. Then again, a still childlike innocence peeps from the back of this liberating tune. Taken from her upcoming album, For Who I Was, ‘Fresh Flowers’ is a link in the US-based singer-songwriter’s personal journey. Personally, with the promise of this new album in April, I cannot wait for more. Highly recommended!
