Shery M – Goin Gone (2026)
‘Goin Gone’ is Shery M’s first English release, and it really sounds like a door slamming shut and another one opening at the same time. From the first listen, it’s clear this isn’t about switching languages for the sake of reach; it’s about telling a story that needed a different space to exist in.
The chorus is what grabbed me straight away. I love the effect on her voice there; it’s catchy but also a bit haunting, and it instantly stayed in my head. At times, her delivery even gave me Shakira vibes, especially in the way she balances emotion with confidence. The hook hits without trying too hard, and that repeated “goin goin goin gone” turns into something almost addictive by the end.
Musically, the track sits right in that sweet spot between polished pop and emotional weight. The production is clean and modern, but it doesn’t smooth out the edges too much. There’s a steady pulse running through the song that mirrors the idea of movement: planes, distance, leaving, not looking back. It’s the kind of beat that keeps the song moving forward even when the lyrics are heavy, which makes everything hit harder.
The lyrics are where the song really lands. Lines like “I’ve been checking my phone/ So paranoid” and “Sitting first class on this plane/ I cried for the first time” sound like someone stuck between fear and relief, missing what’s behind them while knowing they can’t go back. There’s no dramatic overexplaining, just moments that say enough on their own.
I also like how the song builds without ever exploding. Instead of a huge drop, it relies on repetition and momentum, which works perfectly for the story she’s telling. The verses feel tense and vulnerable, and when the chorus comes back around, it feels like a release rather than a payoff.
When she sings “I pushed through all this pain/ I’m never going back again”, it comes across like a quiet promise to herself rather than a statement meant to impress anyone else. For a debut English single, ‘Goin Gone’ makes a strong impression. It sounds confident without being flashy, emotional without being dramatic. You can tell this song comes from lived experience, and that’s what makes it stick.
