Track of the Day: Lussilia – Nuestra Fiesta (2025)

With a Latin music sound that not only makes people smile and dance but also promotes creativity, community, and reviving forgotten genres, singer-songwriter Lussilia brings the passion of South America to the world. Strongly rooted in culture and rich in emotion, Lussilia infuses French, Spanish and English lyrics to connect with identities across the globe. This is our introduction to the musician, but she already turns international heads with confident performances, bold collaborations, and enchanting melodies. The latest addition to her discography is the single, ‘Nuestra Fiesta’.

Following her well-received debut album, ten four sixty one, Lussilia once again joins forces with Grammy award-winning and nominated producers James Joubran and Guillermo Lefeld. As with the tracks from ten four sixty one, ‘Nuestra Fiesta’ brims with an eclectic fusion of traditional South American instruments performed by an international line-up including Cole Ford, Robin Layne, Linaldo Sans, Oliver Miguel, and Dijerdan “Baiano”. Interestingly, while the combination of marimbas, cuatros, charango, Brazilian percussion, urban merengue sax and Afro-Caribbean timbal presents a feisty multi-coloured fever of Latin energy, the producers bind everything with a sophisticated and elegant arrangement. In other words, it’s a joyful explosion of sound, yet flows with mellifluous charm.

I would tell you which instrument slices across the other, but I honestly don’t know what’s where and how – a sign of my ignorance and their skill. What I can admit is that the melody has a shimmering burst of excitement twirling about, reaching into your heart, dancing along your skin and capturing you with its contagious delight.

One of the more intriguing aspects of ‘Nuestra Fiesta’ is Lussilia’s rich vocals. Warm and honey-soaked, she weaves through the song, giving you a bright grin, pulling you from your seat, and it’s impossible not to get your Latin groove on. Moreover, a fusion of Spanish and English lyrics highlights the theme of community and cultural unity; a song to unite audiences across the globe.

My overall opinion of Lussilia and ‘Nuestra Fiesta’? It’s an insatiable wealth of warmth and cross-cultural harmony in a body-swaying symphony. I am eager to hear more from Lussilia, but until then, I’ll keep dancing away to ‘Nuestra Fiesta’.
