Heléne Hellmon – Little Blue Planet (2025)

Describing the beginning of a new song as “…opening the door to a new world”, singer-songwriter Heléne Hellmon celebrates life, shares stories and takes listeners on a journey of change. With a background in choir singing, the Sweden-based musician began writing original music in 2016, and in 2018 she performed her debut solo concert exploring themes of openness, compassion and democracy. Today, Hellmon taps once again into these significant themes and delicately unpicks reality with the track ‘Little Blue Planet’.

With a deep commitment to creating music and a passion for collaboration, ‘Little Blue Planet’ continues the long-time collaboration of producer Filip Killander and performer Heléne Hellmon. A piano-driven song, ‘Little Blue Planet’ binds organic instruments with bold synthetic beats and shimmering keys. While the track is not simplistic in its arrangement, each twinkling breath adding colour to the kaleidoscopic melody, a barebones simplicity seems to lurk in the soothing tones. Perhaps this is Hellmon’s bold vocals that speak rather than sing, exuding warmth and comfort like a chat with an old friend.

For me, the arrangement, particularly the acoustic piano, offers a classical structure to ‘Little Blue Planet’. Yet, while there is an organised certainty to the single, the melody contains contemporary wistfulness and flux within the soundscape. It’s confident and bold, but the raw emotion swirls with provocative flair.

Originally penned in 2023 but put on hold for a couple of years, ‘Little Blue Planet’ is a conversation from the past; however, the timeless theme makes it as relevant today as it was previously. Hellmon explains:

“’Little Blue Planet’ is an expression of frustration, but also of hope. It’s a musical contribution to the conversation of our time, encouraging reflection rather than resignation… The song…has a clear message: the world is an uncertain place – but not all hope is lost, and we still have both the responsibility and the power to make a difference. This song is a musical stance in favour of compassion and humanity.”
