WhoDaresWins – Hero (2025)
Drawing together the musical skills of four veteran musicians, WhoDaresWins is a group with maturity, sophistication, and the ruggedness you expect from old-school rock bands. Rekindling the creativity of John Haddrell and Will Jack, then adding an extra spark of musical passion with Jack’s son Willie and award-winning songwriter Tom Tikka, WhoDaresWins is more than just a band; it is a movement. It celebrates the courage to follow our destiny, the courage to banish regrets of the past, and the empowerment of taking that step to achieving your dreams – all bound in a rock-infused sonic wrapper. Join us as we begin this journey with WhoDaresWins’ debut single, ‘Hero’.
Recorded and produced by Tom Tikka, ‘Hero’ is a drag back to the classic rock and alternative rock sounds of the 80s and 90s. I wouldn’t say it’s a track to immediately hit you in the chest with its bold music, but the melody certainly shakes you to attention with the rush of hard rock as well as a lingering sense of soothing.
In its concoction of scorching guitars and crashing drums, the foursome easily transcends the realm of studio recording to live performances. Listening to ‘Hero’ is like pumping your fist along with everyone else at one of WhoDaresWins’ shows. A hard-hitting song, but also a heartfelt song, the track is about strong connections between people and how we should celebrate that. Will Jack explains:
“’Hero’ was written with my son in mind. He’s been a constant in my life. He’s stood by me through thick and thin. He’s my brother and my best friend… my hero!”
In addition to the single, WhoDaresWins released an official music video for ‘Hero’. Filmed on site in Mini Hollywood, Almeria, Spain – the same site used for Clint Eastwood’s iconic The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly – WhoDareWins brings us about five minutes of the best of the west gunfights, brawls, and a sheriff pursuing three heroes. Scripted by Elina Suominen and filmed/edited by Tuomas Palola, the video can be viewed below and/or on the band’s YouTube channel.
