Razor Burn – Point of Defeat (2025)
Last week, we were introduced to the Australian band Razor Burn. A burst of hard rock, twinkling with a scintillating sheen of bombastic musical beauty, they wriggled into our ears and lodged themselves in our brain. Today, we are not exactly reintroduced considering Razor Burn has been on repeat for the past few days, but we are shown another side of their personality with ‘Point of Defeat’.
Following the well-received singles ‘Avow’ and ‘Into The Void’, ‘Point of Defeat’ is the third track by the Melbourne-based group. Born from the underground venues of Australia, ‘Point of Defeat’ brings that grittiness, grime, and sweaty, first-pumping, mosh pit-ready attitude to audiences across the globe.
Produced with Ashane, the track retains the electric energy of ‘Into The Void’ and ‘Avow’; however, it seemingly has a heavier, harder, weightier edge to its all-out brash hard rock intensity. An immersive experience, thundering drums and blistering guitars blast in a tempestuous tantrum of sound, tossing you from pillar to post with reckless abandon. The forceful vocals slice through the madness with both grace and arrogance.
Melodically, Razor Burn brings an audacious cheekiness in their hard rock-filled tunes, landing with a big grin and twinkling mischief sparkling in the sly wink. Then again, this is the uncompromising sensation that defines Razor Burn, and don’t we just love it! Lyrically, however, the band heightens its profoundness, proving they’re more than just a brazen blast of rock.
‘Point of Defeat’ touches on the uncertainty of society in its dystopian shell of existence. They ask us to look around, pay attention and really consider the core of our reality. Not necessarily a call to arms, but a distinctive shaking of people to wake from a stupor and take control, ‘Point of Defeat’ slaps you in the face but makes you think about the reasons.
In addition to the single, Razor Burn released an official lyric video for ‘Point of Defeat’. You can view the video below and/or on their YouTube channel.
