Sharlette – Loving You Is Wild (2025)
With her dark eyes and charming smile, singer-songwriter Sharlette can win your heart without even trying; then again, she is far more than surface-level beautiful. Blending soul with retro R&B, her music holds you in a warm embrace, giving you that feeling of utter contentment with a chocolate biscuit and a cup of tea in your hands. Known for her enigmatic performances and moving melodies, Sharlette has graced the stages alongside acts like Boy George and LeAnn Rimes. Today, we take a listen to her most recent release, ‘Loving You Is Wild’.
The first single since 2014’s ‘Far Away’ – or at least, according to Spotify – ‘Loving You Is Wild’ is a drag back to the R&B flavour of the 90s and early 2000s. For me, there is a quick whisper of Alicia Keys oozing from ‘Loving You Is Wild’; however, the rich voice hints at something that is entirely unique and completely Sharlette. Produced by Joseph Chiari, the track is a sophisticated arrangement with elegance and maturity. It winds around you with tender affection, dancing across your skin with light patters and a tail of shimmering light.
Melodically, ‘Loving You Is Wild’ is not a wild or rambunctious tune; soft, soothing and laidback is the name of the game. With gentle tranquillity and a chilled-out groove, the track is nothing but pure charm and contentment. Then again, within the breath of refreshing air is an underlying sense of yearning and desire. Described as a “…song set to remind you of that late-night feeling you don’t want to end. The song is a love letter to those moments you can’t forget, no matter how hard you try.”
Deliciously delectable, ‘Loving You Is Wild’ is your favourite Quality Street chocolate at the end of a long day; the thing that makes you smile and remember the good times. Set to release more music regularly, exploring the raw emotion and connection between life, life and human experiences, Sharlette is a highly recommended artist that I plan to follow – you should too.
