Tritonic – Oh, Sinai! (2025)

Seeking to find an equilibrium between the heavier realms of music and the lighter, softer, more head-bopping ones, UK-based Tritonic stand across boundaries. Light and dark, vulnerable and bold, fragile and confident, sincere and brash – this is what Tritonic aims to share with the masses. We came across the group a couple of years ago, but only took our virtual pen to paper with their 2025 single, ‘Alexamenos!’. Join us as we take a gander at their most recent release, ‘Oh, Sinai!’

Following the well-received singles, ‘Camino Death March’ and ‘Alexamenos!’, Tritonic shifts from the heavy metal thrash of ‘Camino Death March’ to something smoother, more soothing, and easier on the ears despite the gritty metal step driving ‘Oh, Sinai!’ forward. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Mark Estall, Peter Jewkes and Jonathan Oh’s soaring guitars layer across a dynamic bass weave from Ben Smithers, with Rob Channon’s drums pulsating in the background – like a human heartbeat fluttering in the muscle, meat and raw emotion.

One aspect I find particularly intriguing about Tritonic is how they keep you on the cusp of something crazy but find a way to hold you in the tempestuous tones. With ‘Oh, Sinai!’, it is the mellifluous flush of instrumentation in a hard rock casing to create the intrepid music, and Jewkes’ passionate vocals – backed by Channon, Smithers, Oh, and Victoria Bernard – that makes the walk edgy and jagged, but comfortable and warm.

Another aspect I find interesting about Tritonic is not the melody or the lyricism, but the presentation of their music. By releasing their music on a wax-dipped cassette, Tritonic forces you to answer the question: “How much destruction is required for creation?”  Taken from their upcoming album Bend The Arc!, ‘Oh Sinai!’ can be enjoyed alongside ‘Camino Death March’, ‘Alexamenos!’ and ‘Demiurge’; then again, are you willing to break open the wax seal and “…choose to be a listener or not, and to directly participate in the physical process of the album, rather than being a passive receiver…”

In addition to the single, Tritonic released an official music video for ‘Oh, Sinai!’. You can view the video below and/or on the band’s YouTube channel.
