Rupert Träxler – The Journey (2025)
Earlier this year, singer-songwriter Rupert Träxler made his way across our ears and onto our virtual pages, and we were hooked. Despite having only a couple of singles to his name – or at least on his Spotify – the Austria-based musician finds the sweet spot of brash metal and melodic rock. His influences range from Slipknot to Lady Gaga, so he is quite an innovative artist regarding his moving melodies. Join us as we delve into his most recent release, ‘The Journey’.
Following his single, ‘Darkness’, Träxler showcases his multi-faceted originality by shifting from a heavier metal tone to something lying further toward an alternative rock-inspired sound. Self-composed, recorded and produced, ‘The Journey’ is a true feast of music, rollercoasting from soft, soothing, almost folksy stylings to heavier rock inclinations. Setting you adrift on a glistening sonic river, the beginning of your adventure is gentle, charming and almost Paul Simon-esque soothing… then things take a turn.
A wave of powerful hard rock sweeps along, sending ripples across the water; however, as much as there is a thunderous rush of rock, it doesn’t topple that proverbial boat. Shimmering along the water, like imps dancing across the surface, the crash of drums and scorching guitars wrap about you instead of sending you overboard.
Confident and bold, but gentle, tranquil and chilled-out, ‘The Journey’ holds the ferocity of harder rock within a bubble of calm. Melodically, it is an intriguing ride, but it is the theme and lyrical execution that make the track even more intriguing. Träxler explains:
“Longing is not an escape, but a journey within. This spoken word poetry piece reflects on imagination, memory, and desire, painting a dreamlike landscape of beauty that is deeply felt but never fully seen. Drifting like mist over morning fields, the poem invites you into stillness, mindfulness, and self-reflection…”
In addition to the single, Rupert Träxler released an official music video. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger migraines and/or seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
