Omnesia – Dangle (2025)
With the power of the internet, Omnesia was born. Meeting online, androgynous vocalist Medella Kingston and guitarist M2 shared their mutual love for music and, as we are happy to hear, united to form the genre-defying duo Omnesia. Describing their music as “auditory omakase, where future vintage rock, indie dance, electropop, nu-wave and prog find common ground”, the US-based pairing uses every melody to create and execute something refreshingly new, while still lingering to vintage influences. The latest addition to their eclectic discography is the single, ‘Dangle’.
Following their track, ‘Days and Nights’ – which is the first release since 2021’s ‘Guns (Everybody’s Got One)’ – ‘Dangle’ shifts from the indie meets punk mash of ‘Days and Nights’ to a hard rock meets funk with old-school flavours.
Produced by M2 and Medella Kingston, with recording by M2 and Brendan West, ‘Dangle’ is a combination of Eric Slick’s drums, Stephen Goodwin’s bass, M2’s guitar, Tal Ariel’s keys, and Kingston’s vocals – all entwined as a shimmering poison pouring out from a delicate vial. Potent and oozing with the sensual charm that only James Bond can maintain, this kaleidoscopic concoction makes you want to take a drink and enjoy the symphonic sensations.
While the instrumentation is intriguing, for me, it is Kingston’s vocals that up the ante. Slicing across, dancing along, and peeking through the mish-mash of sound, she adds a dash of obscurity with her off-kilter tone. Melodically, I love the single, but it is the lyricism that really enchants with its sexiness. Omnesia explains:
“If you listen to the lyrics, definitely a sex song, because a woman is exercising her power and control over a man’s dangling sexuality. The duality of likes like “I’m on top when I’m underneath you”. Musicians who have heard this track describe it as “funk metal disco”. It’s definitely raw and tight and sexy and funny at the same time.”
In addition to the single, Omnesia released an official music video for ‘Dangle’. You can view the video below and/or on their YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
