Kaylene – Classy (2025)
With rich vocals, resonating words, and a powerful melody, singer-songwriter Kaylene weaves a web of music in which you can become entirely lost. Hailing from Ireland, she is one of the more intriguing artists in the country-pop scene. Delicately unpicking human emotion, her songs look at the importance of simply being, accepting yourself, and tackling the vulnerabilities that hit us all at one point or another. She started turning heads with her 2022 debut single, ‘Skimming The Surface’; today, she reaches our ears with her single, ‘Classy’.
Following the well-received track ‘Comfort Zone’, Kaylene rounds 2025 off with the song ‘Classy’. Produced with regular collaborator Roy Hamilton III, ‘Classy’ retains the strong country vibe we hear in ‘Comfort Zone’; in fact, they might be the same song melody-wise. A combination of racing drums and warm guitar tinged by the twang of country-influenced banjo. Yet, while the track pulsates with the charm of an old-school country tune, Kaylene adds a rock-flecked electric guitar midway, inserting a bold edginess into the single.
Melodically, ‘Classy’ highlights Kaylene’s personality, but her vocals are what add a bit of human charm to the single. Sweet, soothing, and packed with toe-tapping joy, ‘Classy’ is about “…embracing your imperfections…” in a truly classy way. For me, the track is sophisticated and well-polished, yet there is a joyful naivety that enhances the youthful playfulness of the tune.
This is merely my opinion, but while Kaylene shows skill, ‘Classy’ is no stand-out tune; however, it sticks in your head, leaving you to hum and sing the chorus for after it ends. It’s a great listen, and I highly recommend ‘Classy’ and Kaylene if you have a preference for pop-tailored country stylings. In fact, you should take a listen even if you aren’t that way inclined. I’m happy to hit repeat on ‘Classy’, but I don’t know if it will stick in my head. I am, however, interested to hear Kaylene’s upcoming EP (set for release in February 2026).
