XDB – Snowfall Serenade (2025)

Beginning as the solo project for guitarist Xander Demos to support his 2012 album, Guitarcadia, XDB is, in their words, “…forged in the fires of classic and heavy rock… an electrifying sound that fuses raw power with sophisticated musicianship…” While opening as a one-man band, XDB now boasts the skills of veteran rockers Rob Kane (vocals) and Guy Cole (drums); add young ‘uns Brendan Callahan (guitar and keyboard) and Emily Stroup (bass guitar), and you have a group to fuse the old with the new in a hard rock package. Join us as we jump into their latest single, ‘Snowfall Serenade’.

Following their 2025 single ‘Love Of My Life’, XDB embraced the Christmas holiday spirit with ‘Snowball Serenade’. Produced by Rob Kane, XDB offers a strong classic rock melody with pounding drums, forceful guitars, and a bold bass entwined in a warm blanket. As the hard rock tone carries you along in its kaleidoscopic wave, Xander Demos’ guitar dances across with a massive grin, capturing the rawness of vintage 70s rock, then sprinkling it across with modern flair. For me, listening to ‘Snowfall Serenade’ was like twirling about on a snowy field while the instruments sprinkle snowflakes, kissing your eyelids and glistening on your skin.

One element that makes ‘Snowfall Serenade’ magical in that Christmas spirit sense is the vocals. Shifting from Rob Kane’s voice in ‘Love Of My Life’, Emily Stroup takes centre-stage here. Soothing, rich and warm, she fills your heart with warm music; however, just as there is warmth and comfort in her dulcet tones, a sense of fragility peeps from the background – fragility with a loving connection and intimate nature.

While the holiday season has passed and we return to reality, the excitement and joy of last month seem to fizzle. Yet, XDB sparks that happiness once again in all our souls with ‘Snowfall Serenade’. On a dreary weekday, ‘Snowfall Serenade’ makes you smile, sigh and breathe in a deep, refreshing breath of melodic rock.
