Chloe Jessica – The Middle (2026)
Bonding over their shared passion for music, four university students soon became friends and also bandmates. Joining their musical talents, Holly Borlase, Adam Gould, Neva Bevan and Chloe Wood decided to embrace their life experiences, explore the realm of simply being, and share all the tragedy, pain, hope, joy and bliss in moving melodies. As a brand spankin’ new foursome – their debut single only recently released – Chloe Jessica is a minnow in a pool of industry sharks. Yet, while they’re still a little one, you can’t help but keep your eye on the silvery zipping of that energetic minnow. Join us as we delve into Chloe Jessica’s debut single, ‘The Middle’.
Inspired by the earlier works of Taylor Swift, ‘The Middle’ has a strong pop flavour with a spark of folk-pop peeking from the underbelly. The thing is, while a commercial pop tinge wafts through ‘The Middle’, it can hardly be considered a true pop song. Recorded and produced by Will Hallett, the arrangement weaves together harder rock-flushed guitars, pounding guitars and a bold bass – all topped by Wood’s rich vocals.
Just as the weave of different styles bursts from the track, the vocals brim with an odd duality. Comfortable and warm with soothing tones, but also raging with fragility and vulnerability that makes you want to tear up. It is in this way, with the movement and winding of various emotions, that Chloe Jessica unpicks the timeless theme of broken relationships in a contemporary way. Chloe Wood explains:
“This single is about my past relationship in which I was cheated on after placing so much trust in him and realising that I glorified him for our entire relationship and, once this was over, I realised just how much better off I am without him. However, I was still very much hurt by the events, so there is very much an undercurrent of this in the single. This release carries every late night, every doubt in myself and every dream that I refuse to let go of.”
