Prem Byrne – Little (2026)

What better way to kick off the new year than with some new music? In the depths of winter, I can’t think of anything better than some dreamy indie folk, and that is what Prem Bryne is delivering with his new single ‘Little’.

This San Francisco songwriter has somehow encapsulated the West Coast sound perfectly, coupled with some fantastic storytelling.  The opening pipes of ‘Little’ set the tone for the entire track. From the first line, I was invested, with talk of the moment his daughter held his pinky for the first time was both heartfelt and poignant, setting the scene for what was to come.

I loved how the simple music lets the story take centre stage and allow Bryne to reminisce while contemplating the ever-changing relationships we have with our kids. I’m probably biased as a father of girls, and I felt like ‘Little’ had spoken directly to me and made me contemplate my own relationships with my daughters and what the future might hold. In my eyes, this has solidified Prem Byrne as a master lyricist because it takes something special to offer something a listener can instantly relate to so well. I was not surprised to discover that Byrne didn’t pursue his musical dreams until later life due to the maturity of his lyrics, and I think we all owe the musician he met in Brazil, who reignited a debt of gratitude, as we all could have missed out on such a talent.

I got the same feeling I got the first time I heard Iron and Wine over 20 years, which is not something I say lightly, so I couldn’t stop at ‘Little’, I had to go searching for what else Prem Bryne had to offer. I can confirm I was not disappointed. ‘Little’ is definitely not a flash in the pan, and this is an artist whom I’ll be sharing with anyone who’ll listen.

In addition to the single, Byrne released an official music video for ‘Little’. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel.
