Natasha Hamilton – Numb (2026)
After a year of silence, Natasha Hamilton makes a firm statement as a solo artist, with the electronic banger ‘Numb’, which has a powerful, uncompromising message of defiance. The track has similarities to the Confessions On A Dancefloor era Madonna. It also sounds like the classic synth-pop of the 80s. The pulsating keyboards remind me of Visage’s ‘Fade To Grey’, and the electronic drums scream New Order.
The lyrics describe power and being comfortable in your own mind: “I’m numb/ And you’re gone/ Baby, you’re not laughing anymore.” Hamilton’s style of songwriting is very personal to her, as was the case with her last single, ‘Burning Letters’, almost a year ago. Her first three singles have built steady momentum, but ‘Numb’ feels like her first significant move as a solo artist. It is clear that she believes that the track marks a landmark for her, saying:
“This song marks a turning point for me creatively. It’s honest, grounded and exactly where I am right now.”
‘Numb’ packs a punch in an energetic three minutes that feature a strong, pure vocal from Hamilton. It is an adaptable track, and it would work well in the clubs. The middle eight section is also fantastic.
There is so much in this song that points towards rebirth and having unfinished business. This happens to be the very first release on Morpho Records, which is Hamilton’s own record label, which is focused on the nurturing and development of future pop stars. As far as her own music is concerned, she is planning to release much more music in 2026, sharing:
“The shift came quietly. It arrived through meeting new people who believed in me, but more than that, they showed me a doorway into a creative world I hadn’t allowed myself to step into for a long time. A reminder of something I’d known before, but had lost touch with.’
‘Numb’ shows that Natasha Hamilton has regained the fire in her belly and is ready to attack this exciting new phase of her career.
