Siri Neel – I Think I Said Something (2026)
Unafraid to represent those who feel downtrodden, vulnerable and insecure, singer-songwriter Siri Neel brings courage and empowerment – a celebration of all aspects that make us human. Guided by her strong emotions and life experiences, the Danish-born but UK-based artist lays her story on the line, sharing her sensitivity and strength with audiences. Behind the music lies a powerful personal story: after losing her voice for six years due to nerve damage, Neel remained fully committed to regaining control, following her dreams and embracing authenticity.
Following her 2024 debut album, Drawn Like A Magnet, Neel releases one of her most uncompromising songs yet – ‘I Think I Said Something’. Produced by British producer Mark Flannery and Danish producer David Rosing-Schow, ‘I Think I Said Something’ binds the sophisticated, elegant coolness with bouncy childish enthusiasm.
Instrumentally, the track is a piano-driven one opening with a swift lull into the comfortable spot of a ballad; however, the melody takes a turn with an impish drum jumping in, while percussion slips along like fairies dancing about the sonic forest you’re in. By the end of the track, after a rollercoaster arrangement of piercing instruments and a chilled-out piano underlying the melody, you can step out of the whirlpool – slightly dishevelled but content.
For me, it is not the melody that caught my attention, although it certainly contributes to the kaleidoscopic swirl and dance with fairies; it is Neel’s vocals. A Kate Bush meets Björk combination, her falsetto is both clear and hypnotic – a swoon but with an anchoring core. A perfect execution of the delicate, intricate unpicking in the song’s message. Neel explains:
“As a woman and an upcoming artist, I’ve experienced the feeling of being less worth in the music industry because I started later than others… There were periods where I felt completely inadequate and lacked the courage to keep doing what I love… I can’t change my age, my gender, or suddenly write breakup songs, but I can stand by who I am and believe that music has room for far more diversity than we usually allow. ‘I Think I Said Something’ is my attempt to reclaim control and insist that authenticity matters more than fitting the format.”
