Johnluke – Angry In The Moment (2026)
From his honey-soaked vocals to poetic lyricism woven into rich, bold melodies, singer-songwriter Johnluke opens his arms and holds you close, an old friend sharing a cup of tea. Regardless of whether it’s intriguing gossip, a celebration of joyful moments, or pouring out your heart in tragedy, he is there for solace, connection and a place to feel accepted. Following a chain of well-received singles over the past two years, Johnluke continues to turn heads with his latest release, ‘Angry In The Moment’.
A pivotal turn after his well-received debut EP, Comical Romance Col. 1, ‘Angry In The Moment’ is, according to our interview with Johnluke, a “right-hand turn to what the theme of Comical Romance is. It’s dealing with real-life issues that we all can harshly experience.” Instead of reflecting on his experiences within relationships and the complexities of those personal moments, ‘Angry In The Moment’ unpicks the grittier and more poignant areas of reality. He explains:
“I wrote ‘Angry In The Moment’ for anyone who has had to suffer the loss of a loved one to a car crash… This song portrays the view of a person who is going through struggles of everyday life and ends up taking the roads for granted, which leads to heartbreaking circumstances… It’s a massive problem, and I want this song to reach as many people as possible – to help prevent, in some way, the reality of what could happen on the roads.”
A brief listen to Comical Romance Vol. 1, and you’ll discover a folk-pop tone with toe-tapping lightness; however, this track brims with weighty folk-rock tones. Ed Sheeran and Paolo Nutini lingered in previous material, but a leaning toward Hozier lilts in ‘Angry In The Moment’. Produced with Dave Skelton, the single fuses dynamic drums, a fierce banjo, and a galloping guitar into a rugged melody, while Johnluke’s vocals ooze with vulnerability, anger, and desperation.
I find it particularly intriguing that ‘Angry In The Moment’ captures the scene of a car crash with its rhythmic yet trepid melody. As if you were sitting in the car, the melody rocks you along, but it is the growing speed that heightens the moment toward a crash. Each moment is faster, picking up the pace with growing fear; your heart in your throat. Then the climactic ending, powerful and abrupt, leaves you reeling from the impact.
