Amanda Page Cornett – Cajun Kirk & Bella (2026)
A triple-threat in action: Amanda Page Cornett has the natural talent for singing, songwriting and acting, and all with critical acclaim. She discovered her passion for performance at a young age – she hadn’t even hit double-digits yet – and it was this instant adoration that sparked the feisty, sassy and adorably innocent but not without mischievous twinkles artist we know today. Skip ahead a few decades, and we find a musician binding soul, blues, rock and country in her “Southern rock ‘n’ roll” style.
Following her 2024 single, ‘Hearts On A String’, Amanda and her band, Almost Angels, return to the streaming world with ‘Cajun Kirk & Bella’. Recorded and produced by Cornett with Randall Scott Peterson, Mark Narmore and Grant Walden, ‘Cajun Kirk & Bella’ is a gritty, rugged, hard-hitting brush of rock ‘n’ roll, blues and soulful drawls courtesy of Cornett. For me, this is a fist of Americana flecked with heavier hard rock flashes, but the bluesy attitude of Gary Moore and B.B. King.
Polished and elegant, the production team sprinkle their kaleidoscopic production fairy dust on ‘Cajun Kirk & Bella’, but what is a great song without the scintillating musicians? Sherry Peterson-Tenille’s bold bass throbs in the track, while Justin Holder’s crashing drums both keep the pace and bring a heart-pumping thud to the melody. Randall Scott Peterson’s guitar slices, swerves and soars with a liberating breath of soul-stirring freedom, while Cornett’s vocals add the dirty, gritty, “get down with your bad self” attitude. Interestingly, just as everything has rustic flair and has you twirling about while screaming along, ‘Cajun Kirk & Bella’ also has a rich sweetness with honey-soaked veils.
For me, the track is intriguing with a wild rush from each side; however, it is the final 10 seconds (give or take) that placed an amused smile on my face. Sliding from the Southern rock melody, we have a simple, elegant acoustic piano plucking the way out. Sincere, serene, but with a butt-kicking feistiness, ‘Cajun Kirk & Bella’ is a song to stick in my head for several hours, if not days.
