Adam Wedd – For U I’ll Cross The Sea (2026)
Looking at the challenges of life and celebrating all its complexities, singer-songwriter Adam Wedd is unafraid to put stories to song, bringing a sense of connection, understanding and solace in his moving melodies. Wandering from alternative-rock and pop-rock to indie-folk and folk-pop, the UK-based musician delivers diversity, versatility, and authenticity whenever you turn on the speaker. The latest addition to his discography is the single, ‘For U I’ll Cross The Sea’.
Following his well-received single, ‘FIGURE IT OUT’, ‘For U I’ll Cross The Sea’ is an international collaboration spanning two continents. Recorded and produced by Marek Deml in Hammersmith, London, with London-based Tom Hall on mastering duties and New York-based Ken Abel on mixing. London-based violinist and cellist Georgina Leach performed and recorded the strings, and everything came together in the single, ‘For U I’ll Cross The Sea’. Don’t forget, of course, Wedd’s composition and lyrical skills alongside his vocals, acoustic guitar and piano.
Inspired by the “all the great storytelling songwriters like Tom Waits, Ben Folds and Foy Vance”, the new single is a true love story set to music. Wedd explains:
“During the pandemic, I remember a wonderful Zoom call with Jan Hausbrandt and Kasia about their incredible story about how they met in a Poland occupied by Russia, but fell in love when they both landed in the USA. It’s a song about finding love in difficult times. It’s a song about making your own luck together when the odds don’t seem so good, and celebrating the great in those we love… It’s a real story put to song.”
Released just before Valentine’s Day, ‘For U I’ll Cross The Sea’ is not only a love song in lyrics and title, but a perfectly aligned, heartfelt, tender sound. Simplistic in a way, the organic melody is a sonic wrapping of Wedd’s guitar and piano in Leach’s violin and cello. Comforting, warm and restful, you can imagine this as the perfect song for a couple’s anniversary or the tune they play for the first dance at their wedding. It’s intimate without being too intense, a silly grin and “eyes for you only” song without being too cheesy. The ideal song to capture the power of love.
