John Denton – Waiting ‘Till It All Works Out (2026)
There is an exciting prospect who is making waves in the North West, and he goes by the name of John Denton. ‘Waiting ‘Till It All Works Out’ is his latest uplifting release and is pouring with melodic sounds. The track features a stellar vocal from Denton, which isn’t dissimilar to legendary Mancunian Noel Gallagher. There are also echoes of Shed Seven. The track particularly means a lot to Denton, who says the track is about “two years of grafting and driving to the most random places summed up in three minutes”
The track is full of lush acoustic and electric guitars and has a reflective and nostalgic feel to it. ‘Waiting ‘Till It All Works Out’ is the second track to be released from an EP, which is scheduled for May. The telling lyric in the song is: “I don’t know where I belong / But neither do you.”This describes the disillusionment felt by some of today’s youth. Describing the song’s meaning, Denton shares:
“It just tells the story of how I and many people my age feel. You’re always waiting for the next thing to happen, but you’ve also got to live in the moment as well. I’m 15, so just finishing school; sometimes that can feel like it’ll take forever, and sometimes it feels like it’s all coming so quickly. I guess that’s the way many 15 year old’s feel, and probably people younger and older than me”.
Denton has an exceptional past 12 months. He has signed to Liverpool-based label Modern Sky and his last single, ‘Somebody Else’s Game’, has been played numerous times at his beloved Old Trafford. He has even rubbed shoulders with Bruce Springsteen, who he passed a CD of his own demos to.
‘Waiting ‘Till It All Works Out’ is the latest instalment from a 15-year-old who has scary potential. There is plenty to admire here, in particular the lovely harmonies and nice tambourines and organ. Denton is playing his first headline show at The Yard in Manchester in June. “But I’m tired of lying here / Just waiting till it all works out“, Denton sings on the chorus. But for me, it already sounds like it’s working out just great.
