Dave Curl – Zueri (2026)

For over a decade, singer-songwriter Dave Curl has been weaving together elements of folk, indie-rock, alternative rock and pop in his emotive melodies. In our interview with Curl, he shared that his musical influences from the past – including Chris Rea, The Police and U2 – “…touched me deeply. Their music was so powerful that it shaped my childhood, teenage years and even my 20s; that sense of magic in music is something I still carry with me today.” While that magic may live in his heart, it is also something he pours into his melodies, connecting with audiences on an intimate, emotional and relatable way. Today, we look at the most recent addition to his discography, ‘Zueri’.

While ‘Zueri’ is only reaching people’s ears in 2026, it was penned 30 years ago during the 90s. As a songwriter inspired by real-life moments, the single was inspired by an actual person – an old busker playing Bob Dylan songs. Interestingly, and this is another trait of Curl’s songwriting, the little piece and small moment is a piece of a larger puzzle, revealing greater, universal truths. When talking about ‘Zueri’, Curl explains:

“’Zueri’ is an original Swiss German song written 30 years ago in Zürich, Switzerland – inspired by an old man busking for coins just metres away from the luxury of Bahnhofstraße… the contrast between wealth and struggle in one of the world’s richest cities…”

Self-produced and recorded in Germany, ‘Zueri’ is a powerful, guitar-driven single capturing the grittiness of this reality in an alternative rock sweep of sound. Dario’s pounding drums pulsate along with Antonio D’Amato’s steady bass, offering a solid beat in the track. Mathias Lunde’s dynamic guitar soars, swerves, slices, and entwines with an edgy grit; however, it is Curl’s vocals that bind everything nicely. Clear and definite, his rich voice walks through the track, adding sincere certainty not only to the melody but as part of the overall theme.

In addition to the single, Dave Curl released an official music video for ‘Zueri’. You can view the video below and/or on Curl’s official YouTube channel.
