The Delta Sound – Drive (2026)
With humble beginnings – forming in 2019 at a “dingy Brixton boozer” – UK-based group The Delta Sound have reached far beyond London borders, turning heads on an international scale. With their 2021 debut album, Things Gonna Change, Sam Piper (guitar), Andrew Gladwell (bass) and Leo Fedorcio (drums) took listeners on a walk across various realms of sound from Chicago blues to punk, alternative rock and Brit-rock. In fact, it is the fusion of these genres that makes The Delta Sound interesting, engaging, and something to twirl about to, scream along to, and just have fun with. Following the 2024 singles, ‘Miles & Miles’ and ‘Sun Before The Fall’, their new single, ‘Drive’, was produced by Dave Mountain, with mixing by Andrew Gladwell, in Autumn 2025. Today, after its release in February this year, we take a listen to ‘Drive’ and begin our journey into The Delta Sound’s sound.
From the outset, The Delta Sound toss you back to the 1990s with a strong mix of indie-rock and grunge to get you pumping your fists in the air. Fedorcio’s crashing drums pulsate in the back, rising from an intense rush to steady beats, then back again – all alongside Gladwell’s bold bass and Piper’s searing guitar. Yet, while the melody is indeed a harmonious, rhythmic wave of sound, each instrument stands apart, bringing an individual punch to a cohesive track.
Melodically, ‘Drive’ is the vodka shot on a crazy night out, keeping you up and kicking, loving every moment. Of course, there’s the hangover the next day, but The Delta Sound and ‘Drive’ are worth it. Very much recommended, and one you should keep an eye and ear on.
In addition to the single, The Delta Sound released an official music video for ‘Drive’. You can view the video below and/or on their YouTube channel. Please note that this video uses lighting effects that can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
