A Chat with V of 40M (23.04.24)
Known as the Revolutionary Rap Architect, V of 40M ignites the flame of hope and empowerment in his passionate music. Leading the change for the Black Independence people’s movement known as Forty Million Strong (40M), V is turning heads across the globe. We speak with V about his latest single ‘The Score’, creative processes and good advice.
OSR: What drew you to music?
V of 40M: The Creator.
OSR: You recently released your single ‘The Score’. What can you tell us about ‘The Score’?
V of 40M: ‘The Score’. V of 40M featuring 40M Tye and Hippie G, produced by LABACK. Revolutionary vibes only, big M s***. Created by the Creator, inspired by the ancestors and influenced by the Fugees. We wanted to bring a new piece to the Revolutionary Rap puzzle and we did just that. It’s a message of teamwork, love and power. It’s also a call for independence, self-sufficiency and self-determination of a people.
OSR: What is your creative process?
V of 40M: Really depends. Sometimes I’m inspired to create and sometimes I purely create to inspire.
OSR: What do you hope people take from ‘The Score’?
V of 40M: For Melanites or “Black” people, fearlessness or courage. That we may be down but we’re not out and the game is far from over.
OSR: If you could change one thing about ‘The Score’, what would it be?
V of 40M: Have a few minute adjustments I would make. Nothing crazy but like 40M Tye told me once, don’t give them all the sauce in one setting.
OSR: What does ‘The Score’ mean to you?
V of 40M: Revelation and Revolution.
OSR: If you could spend a weekend with any celebrity, who would it be?
V of 40M: Ice Spice.
OSR: What is something you would like to learn?
V of 40M: Patience.
OSR: What is the best advice you have ever received?
V of 40M: If I build it, they will come.
OSR: What can we expect from V of 40M in the future?
V of 40M: A new chapter written in world HIStory and the first chapter we have written in OURstory.
