Abby London – What Happened To Me (2025)
Known for her confident presence and relatable melodies, Abby London offers audiences solace, comfort, and a sense of freedom in her music. Touching on the complexities of life, she delves into intricate issues including self-identity, broken relationships, love, and loss. Yet, as much as she delves into the individual issues, there is an overall celebration of simply being, with all its ups and downs. The latest addition to her discography is the single ‘What Happened To Me’.
Following her 2024 singles ‘Stay Holy’ and ‘Whisper’, London hits our ears with the first release of 2025: ‘What Happened To Me’. Recorded and produced with Cade Roberts and mastered by award-winning engineer Emerson Mancini, the new track leans toward early 2000s indie-pop. A sophisticated concoction of crashing drums, dynamic guitars, and an interspersed piano pushing forward with its bold notes. Twirled in a harmonic melody, ‘What Happened To Me’ is both light-hearted and tranquil, yet London’s vocals insert a sense of brooding, vulnerability, and slight melancholy.
A rhythmic tune to simultaneously place a grin on your face while clutching at your heart, ‘What Happened To Me’ is, melodically, an enchanting song. The poetic lyricism and London’s emotional vocals are, at least for me, what makes the track weighty. Looking back with wistful longing, wishing for yesteryear because it seemed so much better, ‘What Happened To Me’ is a reflective conversation; however, it’s not merely about what you were doing then, it’s about how you changed and present yourself today. London explains:
“This song came from a moment of deep personal reflection. It’s about those quiet realisations – when you’re sitting alone and suddenly notice that somewhere along the line you stopped being yourself. It’s not about placing blame. It’s about honesty, healing, and facing what’s real.”
