Alternative Influence – Time 4 Her To Shine (2025)

Formed in 1998, Alternative Influence has been just that – an alternative influence on society as we know it, then and now. Frontman and founder Lee Devenport showcases this passion for creative expression and change in not only music but life as well. As an artist, activist and advocate, Devenport shares, “I see no separation in these roles and feel they naturally cross over… I see music as a vehicle and another avenue to try and make a difference…” Today, we take a gander and listen to the most recent offering from Alternative Influence, ‘Time 4 Her To Shine’.

Following the single ‘Come On In & Join The Party’, ‘Time 4 Her To Shine’ is a song of empowerment, hope, and passionate “I’m here and I’m here to stay”. Exploring the world of women’s football, the new single captures the heart and core of this sport. It’s all about showing the world and making the girls feel they have something to offer, can reach their dreams, and are utterly unstoppable. Devenport explains:

“I’ve been following the women’s game since 2016 and have loved watching it grow. The national team’s success has inspired more domestic clubs, and now grassroots football features just as many junior girls’ teams as boys’ – it’s part of the football fabric now.”

Penned by Devenport and produced with Latch at Tuff Gong Studios, the two-and-a-half-minute single (or thereabouts in length), ‘Time 4 Her To Shine’, is a twirl of pulsating drums, scorching guitars, and Devenport’s gritty vocals. Kaleidoscopic and a bit of a musical head-spinning whip, you feel intrigued by the punk meets alternative rock vibe. It’s thrilling, intriguing, and you can understand how one can feel completely reinvigorated by the end.

In addition to the single, Alternative Influence released an official music video for ‘Time 4 Her To Shine’. You can view the video below and/or on YouTube.
