Cascade – Another Day (2022)

Taking the world by storm since the day of their conception, UK-based quartet Cascade has gone from strength to strength. Formed approximately five years ago, the lads have built a loyal following on their home soil but are also turning heads across the globe. Since their debut single ‘Listen Now’, the lads have received notable press coverage from BBC Introducing, Indie Central Music and K Rock Europe (to name a few). They have also performed alongside acts like Himalayas, BlackWaters, The Skinner Brothers and The Bluetones.

Following their well-received single ‘Merry Little World’, Cascade’s ‘Another Day’ is a powerful indie-rock track. Heavily influenced by indie-rock of the 1990s, a slight reminiscence to Oasis might be evident; however, the rawness of their alternative rock with a contemporary indie vibe gives Cascade a distinctive sound – at least that’s my opinion. Moreover, the well-textured arrangement gives each instrument prominence but has everything coming together in a united whole. I suppose Aristotle was right when he said the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

Gruff, rough and filled with a palpable grittiness, ‘Another Day’ is five-and-a-half minutes of soul-soaring music. Outstanding from the first chord, guitars pound into you with the drums acting as an anchor in the crazy melody. While the instrumentation can hold its own, it is the vocals that seep into your skin and have you yearning for more. Cascade describes the single as “a fist-pumping, uplifting, inspiring track about breaking out of the rat race of day-to-day life” and I have to say this empowering song certainly breaks the monotony of a person’s day with ease.

Elegant and sophisticated, but oozing a passionate innocence, Cascade take my breath away with ‘Another Day’. I cannot wait to see (or rather hear) what else they have in store.
