Devan – Wyatt Earp (2026)

While singer-songwriter Devan might have only one single streaming on Spotify, he is already being considered one of the best male voices on the UK Americana scene; I suppose that says a great deal about his live shows. Discovering his passion for music as a child, Devan was eager to perform from a young age, be it at a college gig or a school performance. With growing confidence and well-received shows, Devan was inspired to forge forth with original songs with poetic songwriting and intriguing melodies. Come with us as we jump headfirst into his debut single, ‘Wyatt Earp’.

Produced by Phil Swan, ‘Wyatt Earp’ is a solid Americana song blending strong Delta blues with a grittier country-rock tone. For me, this song is not merely a song; it is an anthemic soundtrack made for an exciting Western film. The crashing drums lay the foundation, keeping things anchored, while the guitar weaves across in a scorching blaze. A bass guitar pulsates beneath, and the pedal steel zips in with sassiness

Melodically, ‘Waytt Earp’ has a mellifluous, calming, almost languid and tranquil veil; however, its true character stands in the raw ruggedness of Devan’s vocals. Rich, deep, and honey-soaked, the tone oscillates between a boastful brashness and a chilled cheekiness.

As I mentioned, Devan’s ‘Wyatt Earp’ could be the soundtrack for a fantastic Western. Not Clint Eastwood or Kirk Douglas, no, they don’t have the correct type of swagger to meet this single. Think Robert Fuller (Jess Harper from Laramie) dismounting, turning around and staring at the empty street with a glint in his eye and a whisper of a grin. The clap of his gun, the chink of his spurs, the flushed edge of his hat as he saunters down the dusty road to the saloon, a poker game and a bottle of whiskey waiting.

Yes, I see it all, and Devan’s ‘Wyatt Earp’ is the song making the scene that much more enjoyable. Jess Harper might be a rascal, not exactly the attitude of the lawmen Wyatt Earp, but does that really matter when Devan builds the momentum, soul and spirit of a cowboy’s entrance. As a fan of Americana and Westerns, I loved the music. Highly recommended!
