Eddy DelMonico – The Booze Didn’t Bury Me (2024)
The story of “…growing up and falling in and out of love…”, Eddy DelMonico takes you on the road of love with its complexities, intricacies, delights, devastations, and soul-stirring experiences in his music. He was raised on a diet of Ricky Nelson, Glen Campbell, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, the Beatles, and the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. Devouring this, letting it seep into his soul and burn in his heart, DelMonico discovered music was set to be significant.
He shares, “At an early age, it became clear to me that music was going to be an important part of my life. When I got into high school and began to date, I tended to get very serious with whoever I had a crush on or was dating at the time… Needless to say, the girls weren’t ready for anybody like me, and they became the source for many of the songs on this album.” Come with us as we delve into the mentioned album, Songs From The Heart, and explore the track, ‘The Booze Didn’t Bury Me’.
Recorded and produced by Darren Sher, with mixing by Sam Polizzi, ‘The Booze Didn’t Bury Me’ is not necessarily a breakup song, but has the melancholy, poignant tone of a song to let loose the tears and/or to pick up a fragile smile. It’s powerful and empowering alongside the delicate vulnerability. The sweep of blues-tinged guitars winds along a bold bass, steady anchor of drums, and shimmer of keyboards peeping from the background – all instruments courtesy of Tony Carboney.
Melodically, ‘The Booze Didn’t Bury Me’ is the quintessential “heart on your sleeve” country tune that breaks your heart but is also a refreshing breath to keep on keeping on. Yet, what is that sort of song without the crisp vocals? Rich and warm, DelMonico’s voice is like a friend telling you a tale while you nod along over a pint of beer.
In addition to the single, Eddy DelMonico released an official music video for ‘The Booze Didn’t Bury Me’. You can view the video below and/or on his YouTube channel.
