Edie Yvonne – Changed My Mind (2025)

While some teenagers keep their tales of love, life, and the “sad girl” angst we see in movies like Mean Girls in their diaries, Edie Yvonne is going beyond the diary entry, sharing this message with the world. At only 16 years of age, the US-based artist is already an internationally acclaimed musician with fans spanning North America, South America, Europe, and Oceania; however, as great as the reach of her musical fandom, Yvonne retains a sense of individuality and subtlety in the mass of typical tumultuous teen-dom. The latest addition to her discography is the single, ‘Changed My Mind’.

I was already astounded by Yvonne’s sophistication in her pre-16-year-old songs, seen (or rather heard) in the soothing but tumultuous ’15 (When I Leave)’ and ‘Fade Into You’, ‘Changed My Mind’ seemingly retains the signature dipping into her soul, bringing the core of heartache, turmoil, and tragedy to the fore. Keeping to her theme of “sad girl songs” and celebration of self-discovery in a sonic whirlpool of sound and substance, the new single isn’t necessarily a theme change, sauntering on with distinctive sad song vibes. Then again, while a change in messages might be necessary, is it all that important?

Pouring her heart into her songs, Yvonne is the voice of her generation, dealing with life in its triumph and tragedy. For me, ‘Changed My Mind’ might have a lingering sadness, but the hope, optimism and empowerment oozes with happier twirls of kaleidoscopic sound. Lyrically, ‘Changed My Mind’ is a diary entry checking the bad stuff but stepping up with a blast of empowerment to change situations for the better.

Joined by producer Nicky Swedin, Edie Yvonne daubs several slicks of pop onto her sonic palette with strong leanings toward an indie-pop tune. Laidback, light-hearted and chilled with mellifluous musical vibes, ‘Changed My Mind’ has a soothing effect, setting your heart and soul at ease.
